Safe Sport at Syncline

ScaT acknowledges that Nordiq Canada adopted the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS). As a cross country ski club registered with a Division Member (Nordiq Alberta), the UCCMS has been adopted in May 2024 by the Board.

ScaT has a responsibility to protect the health, safety and physical and mental well being of every individual involved in the ScaT community.

Awareness of the UCCMS builds a readiness to prevent issues from arising. Communicating expected standards of behaviour promotes a safe sports environment.

To provide a safe sport environment ScaT commits to the True Sport Principles. These are the principles:

1. Go for It– Rise to the challenge – always strive for excellence. Discover how good you can be.

2. Play Fair – Play honestly- obey both the letter and the spirit of the rules. Winning is only meaningful when competition is fair.

3. Respect Others – Show respect for everyone involved in creating your sporting experience. Win with dignity and lose with grace.

4. Keep it Fun - Find the joy of sport. Keep a positive attitude.

5. Stay Healthy – Place physical and mental health above all other considerations – avoid unsafe activities. Respect your body and keep in shape.

6. Include Everyone – Share the sport with others. Ensure everyone has a place to play.

7. Give Back– Find ways to show your appreciation for the community that supports your sport and help make it possible.
